"Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in the broadside, in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, shouting "Wow! What a ride!" ", Hunter S Thompson

HALL OF SHAME! - HALL OF FAME!!!!
Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia - August 2007
We have seen  a  lot of poverty, especially in the rural areas but also seen big signs for the charities which are helping greatly. One of them is Plan International. It is an excellent charity which has won awards for its work. Both of us sponsor kids through Plan. Your sponsor money does not go to the kid in question or its family but to the community as a whole to help out with improving sanitation, school supplies, medical supplies, access to clean water ... It is really a worthwhile cause, so please think about sponsoring a child through Plan or making a donation.

Our trip has ended and we are back in the UK. If you enjoyed reading about our adventures, come to see our presentation at the next Horizons Unlimited meeting in July, at Ripley (near Derby).
Soon to come, our equipment review page: the best, the bad and the ugly!
Also read our "bike review" in the "Bikes" page.
A bit of free publicity for friends:
You want to motorcycle in South America but can only manage 2 or 3 weeks? We can recommend these companies:
-
www.AAT.cl - Rafael helped us greatly after my crash in Chile. They do fantastic tours, (including the Salar in Bolivia!) and are good people!
-
www.patagoniarider.com: ask for Horacio, he speaks very good english. Again, great guy! Clocked over 1million kms of riding! Talk about experience!
